Alyssa,
As soon as I saw this I knew I needed to read this。 I came across this on Audible and it was amazing to hear Tom himself read his own story。 What an amazing Memoir 💚🤍⚡️*TW: Alcohol/drug use, mental health ❤️🩹🫶
Kate Gansneder,
Loved this book。 Filled with heartwarming and sometimes hilarious tales from his life and his time on set, this is a story of character growth, maturity, mental health and a little mischief。

I don't read a lot of non-fiction。 That is to say, I never do。 It's not like I never tried, because I did! But for some reason, it just can't hold my attention the way a work of fiction can。 Still, I've always liked Tom Felton。 He's a great actor and he's always seemed very down-to-earth。 Like a nice guy to hang out with and have a laugh with。 So I decided to read his book, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it。 I think a big part of that is because it's Tom Felton。 In his book I don't read a lot of non-fiction。 That is to say, I never do。 It's not like I never tried, because I did! In short, if you're curious about Tom's life, if you enjoy non-fiction, if you're interested in this book for any reason, I do recommend picking it up。 It's quite the entertaining read。 I'm not Draco。 Draco's not me。 But the dividing line is not black and white。 It's painted in shades of grey。

Alyce Caswell,
This had a very strong narrative most of the way through, but got a bit wobbly towards the end。。。 perhaps a bit more time, experience and reflection might've fixed some of that。 Felton definitely knows his audience and wrote his memoirs accordingly。 This had a very strong narrative most of the way through, but got a bit wobbly towards the end。。。 perhaps a bit more time, experience and reflection might've fixed some of that。 Felton definitely knows his audience and wrote his memoirs accordingly。 。。。more

What an amazing story! I can’t think Tom Felton enough for being open and honest with his story and what he went through。

I think this is a must read for any fan of the HP movies。 Felton’s narration for the audiobook is what makes this a five star read。 I didn’t know much about Felton before picking this up but now I’m a fan hoping some day he has the opportunity to be James Bond。

Tom。 This memoir is incredible。 Thank you。
Jeanine Lamberti,
I didn’t know precisely what to expect when I pre-ordered this book; however, it exceeded every expectation。 It was funny, insightful, raw, and relatable。 The tempo of the book was excellent, and kept me hooked from start to finish (finished it in one “sitting”, aka listened the entirety of my work day)。 Thank you to Tom Felton for not only being raw and exposed, showing both the highs and lows, but also for fully embracing the Wizarding World and keeping that fire lit。
omgreylo,
Entirely too short, imo, but I'm grateful that Tom shared these stories with us。 Having grown up on Harry Potter, I always wondered what the lives of the actors and actresses my age was like--was it magical, were they waited on hand and foot, did they have it all easy long after the films wrapped up? And not surprisingly (at least for Tom), they were still kids like us。 They goofed around, gave the grown-ups a hard time, learned lessons the hard way, and had crushes on their peers。I especially l Entirely too short, imo, but I'm grateful that Tom shared these stories with us。 Having grown up on Harry Potter, I always wondered what the lives of the actors and actresses my age was like--was it magical, were they waited on hand and foot, did they have it all easy long after the films wrapped up? And not surprisingly (at least for Tom), they were still kids like us。 They goofed around, gave the grown-ups a hard time, learned lessons the hard way, and had crushes on their peers。I especially loved how he described Jason Isaacs as someone who could switch in and out of character so fast, how Alan Rickman (RIP) was a formidable actor whose cape was not to be tread on, and how goofy and friendly Robbie Coltrane (RIP) was。Dramione fans might rejoice at the juicy chapter about Emma, and how he confirms that yes, she is the Duck he's gone on and on about in his songs。 Would've been nice if she had recorded her foreword for the audiobook。 :PBut it's not all fun and magical in this book。 Towards the end, when Tom recounted his intervention, escape from rehab, and his journey back to LA through the kindness of three strangers (or his Three Kings), I felt sad。 Because I know it's hard to talk about mental health, to recognize and accept that you might need help。 Here he was, a millionaire, hitchhiking his way home。 "Are you a rich man?", the Indian man, his first King had asked, and it must have been sobering to realize the answer to that question。We regular folk have this romanticized version of celebrity--that it's always going to be glamorous and easy, and if a rich person has problems, how dare they? We forget that they are humans, too, and despite being surrounded by yes men and money, depression and loneliness and addiction don't discriminate。 You can't buy happiness。 I can't imagine how much harder it is to deal with mental health and struggle with sobriety when you're constantly in the spotlight, when the whispers of a rehab stint could color you differently in the eyes of the masses。 I commend Tom for sharing this private tidbit of his life with us。 This was a great audiobook to listen to during my work day。 。。。more
Gemma,
Absolutely devoured this! Harry Potter was my entire childhood, so I’ve been so excited for this since I first realised it was going to be released。 24 hours later and I’ve just finished the last page。 What a treat for the Potterheads! Tom Felton gives us just enough insight into the Potter world to satisfy the fan within without it becoming an entire book dedicated to his time working on the films。 It was so interesting to read about his life before and after as well。 A fantastic read。

Devastated to have finished reading this, genuinely didn’t want it to end。 Loved every minute of it! Full review pending

I try not to rate autobiographies because it's written by the person, about the person's life and experience。 But I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I teared up in some parts, laughed at others。 And I understood things I may not have earlier。 A great underlying lesson was also learned through the journey of the story and that is rare in this type of book。 I try not to rate autobiographies because it's written by the person, about the person's life and experience。 But I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I teared up in some parts, laughed at others。 And I understood things I may not have earlier。 A great underlying lesson was also learned through the journey of the story and that is rare in this type of book。 。。。more

I was glued from the first page。 It was so nice to get back in that Harry Potter bubble。 You get Tom’s personality in these pages and while he’s glimpsing his life on and off set, you can’t help but do the same having grown up with the Potter films。 You get the full inside scoop of Tom Felton before, during and after the filming of Harry Potter。 Great, easy and fun read。

Beyond the Wand was such a fun book, it was very interesting to read about the production of the Harry Potter films from the perspective of Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy。 Felton covers everything from auditioning for the part of Harry Potter and getting Malfoy instead, working with some of the greatest British actors like Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane to going out in public after the first movie came out and people thinking that Tom himself was a terrible kid。 I also liked reading about Beyond the Wand was such a fun book, it was very interesting to read about the production of the Harry Potter films from the perspective of Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy。 Felton covers everything from auditioning for the part of Harry Potter and getting Malfoy instead, working with some of the greatest British actors like Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane to going out in public after the first movie came out and people thinking that Tom himself was a terrible kid。 I also liked reading about the relationships he formed with his costars, not having to be on set all the time like the main trio (Harry, Ron, Hermione) but playing games on set--apparently Emma Watson was great at ping-pong。 So all in all, a fun read! However, Felton does go into some deeper things about how the fame of the Harry Potter movies came to affect him, which is interesting。 。。。more
